Welcome Letter from our Principal

Mrs. Griffith, Principal

Hello everyone! I am Vickie Griffith, the new principal of Lucy Mae McDonald Elementary.  It is my honor to be leading this wonderful school named after a fabulous human being, Mrs. Lucy Mae McDonald, or Mrs. Mac, as I knew her!  Mrs. Mac had a profound impact on my life, as a child, and it is my honor to be leading this campus named in her honor!

Here is a little bit about me: I am married to my high school sweetheart, Thomas, for 34 years.  We have three adult children: John-Thomas, 34, Tyler, 30, and Kaytlin 27, along with two daughters-in-law, and one son-in-law.  We are also blessed with five grandchildren, Georgia, Wyoming, Barbara Kay, Leif, and Otto, and one on the way.  I am starting my 28th year in education where
I taught 1st grade for eight years, 2nd grade for five and a half years, and seventh grade for a half year. I have been the principal at Hazel Ingram Elementary School for the past three years and assistant principal 1 year.  Prior to returning to Ferris, I was a principal with Scurry-Rosser ISD.

Before becoming a teacher and administrator, I was a campus secretary, nurse’s aide, para-professional and bus driver, all for Ferris ISD. So as you can see, Family, Education, and Kids are my life! I am honored to be back home and a Ferris Yellowjacket once more!

If I can ever be of service to you, please do not hesitate to contact me.

I look forward to seeing you at Lucy Mae McDonald Elementary School: Growing the Yellowjacket Tradition!

Take care!
