Hello! My name is Olivia Velasquez, but most know me as Ms. Nunez. I am thrilled to be a Yellowjacket and look forward to another fantastic year at Lucy Mae McDonald Elementary! Working in Elementary holds a special place in my heart, and our young yellowjackets are truly amazing! This will be my fifth year at McDonald Elementary as the Assistant Principal and my twelfth year with Ferris ISD. I look forward to continuing to grow with the district!
I was raised in Ferris so it is a privilege to work with familiar faces and families that I grew up with here in the community. I attended Texas A&M Commerce where I received a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. A few years later, I received a Master's Degree in Educational Administration from Grand Canyon University. I started my career at Ferris ISD as an aide and went on to teach Kindergarten for four year and Fourth grade for one year.
I love my job and career, but my biggest love is my family! My husband, Robin, and I live in Ellis County with our sons, Juan (7) and Stephen (14). Our daughter, Malorie will be starting college this fall at the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor, and we are extremely proud of her. We also have a 21 year-old son, Giovanni, who lives nearby with his fiance! I enjoy family time, movies, and relaxing at the beach!
